1&1 Headquarters Karlsruhe: A glass house directly at the main station
Since August 2020, an imposing office complex behind Karlsruhe's main railway station has shaped the cityscape of this urban technology location. The up to 70-metre-high glass facades of the office buildings look almost futuristic, giving the complex a powerful and clearly structured character.
The two 12-storey units arranged symmetrically in relation to the station forecourt, which continue in the docked cross-wings with 4 and 7 storeys respectively, offer generous space for more than 2,500 workplaces on more than 45,000 m² of floor space - a large part of which is used by the IT service provider 1&1, the remaining space by Deutsche Bahn.
During the design phase, the architectural firm Graf + Graf from Montabaur placed special emphasis on bright, light-flooded structures and a geometric construction of the buildings. This creates ideal conditions for a modern and efficient workplace design and effective processes.
The sanitary rooms were also designed in a geometrically clear design to give the office complex a consistent overall appearance. Details such as the TECEnow toilet flush plate or the TECEloop flush plate with a glass front set harmonious accents.
