Laying the foundation stone at TECE

The official go-ahead has now been given for the construction of a new administration building for TECE GmbH in Emsdetten. In the presence of the mayor of Emsdetten, Oliver Kellner, the TECE managing directors Hans-Joachim Sahlmann, André Welle and Dr Michael Freitag, as well as members of the shareholder family, the foundation stone was laid on the company premises in Hollefeldstraße on 2 September. Over the coming months, a new administration building for the global building services provider will be built here.

The aim for the new administration building is to house together once again all the employees who have been temporarily spread out over several locations," says Hans-Joachim Sahlmann, Managing Director of TECE GmbH. Around 150 employees from the commercial division will move into their new workplaces in the new, representative building. Provision has already been made for future expansion of the company headquarters: “The building is designed for around 200 employees, which means that further growth is factored in at the Emsdetten site,” says Sahlmann. The reception and the company canteen will also move into the new building. The move is planned for the end of 2022.

For its new building, TECE GmbH acquired the former site of the Czekalla car dealership with a total area of approximately 24,000 square metres, which directly adjoins the previous company premises. Demolition work took place at the end of 2020. The design of the new building comes from the pen of Prof. Johannes Schilling from the Schilling Architekten architectural office in Cologne: “The new building blends gently and openly into the landscape, which will develop into a green oasis through the design of the internationally renowned landscape architect Peter Wirtz, with organically shaped paths and diverse plantings. The visitor will have the feeling of being part of the green environment.” Large glass surfaces on the façade as well as two inner courtyards will provide light-flooded offices with plenty of daylight, views and an overall very bright and friendly working environment

Room for innovations

However, the workshop of the old building has been preserved, which will now house an innovation centre, the “InnoLab”. Dr. Freitag: “With the InnoLab, we are creating more space for innovation and for the ongoing development of our products.” In addition to internal development work, workshops, training courses and expert discussions will also take place here in the future over a generous area of 1,600 square metres, where new product concepts will be put to the test in the truest sense of the word.

In order to position the growing company even better for current market developments, the storage area has also been expanded and the logistics partially automated with the aim of further increasing efficiency. “Through our investment at the Emsdetten site we are laying the foundation for TECE's future growth and securing numerous jobs for the region here,” says A. Welle.
