5-star camping resort relies on comfort and sanitary technology from TECE
Due to the pandemic, many holidaymakers are not looking to go abroad this summer, which is why campsites in Germany are experiencing an unexpected boom and are fully booked. When construction work on the Bodenmais camping resort began in the spring of 2018, no one had any idea of what was to come. The 5-star resort, a prime example of comfortable camping, opened just in time for the beginning of the summer of 2020. Modern sanitary facilities in an appealing ambience also contribute to the high level of comfort, which were installed and equipped over the entire site with TECE products.
In the Lower Bavarian spa town of Bodenmais, at the foot of the Silberberg mountain on a south-facing slope, the newly opened camping resort covers an area of 50,000 square metres. Comfort was a top priority in the planning of the 5-star resort, ensuring that families, active holidaymakers, nature lovers and even wellness enthusiasts all feel equally at home here. In addition to the campsite with its 142 pitches, there is a hotel with seven chalet rooms and five suites, a spa area and a restaurant with a beer garden. Materials such as natural stone and old wood were used in the design of the buildings, underlining the exclusive yet rustic character of the resort.
The sanitary building also has a stone look, but good looks alone are not everything. Durability and reliability were important aspects in the planning and selection of the technology that is used here, as well as in the hotel and restaurant. Sanitary areas on campsites are used extremely frequently and as a result are more stressed than bathrooms at home. The choice therefore fell on products from the Emsdetten-based domestic technology manufacturer TECE, which is known for its solid technology behind the wall and appealing aesthetics in front of the wall.
Reliable flushing technology throughout the resort
A total of 60 toilet modules with the TECE universal cistern were installed on the site. With its 10-litre tank, the universal cistern has the largest total volume in its class and therefore provides sufficient flushing water for direct flushing and possibly the next guest who may already be waiting outside the toilet. The large flush volume also has a preventive effect against deposits in the piping system. The filling and drain valves operate particularly quietly, which means noise levels are kept to a minimum – an important criterion in view of the thin walls of the surrounding caravans and tents. In addition, and also specified by the planning office, the toilet modules were equipped with a connection for odour extraction, which enables them to be used without unpleasant odours – a further plus in terms of comfort and hygiene for the users. In the hotel and in the sanitary building, there is another barrier-free toilet for handicapped guests; in both cases the Geronto module from TECE was used. The required folding support handles are held securely in place on two sturdy metal plates on the left and right of the module.
Optimum potable water hygiene even in the low season
Although the Bodenmais camping resort is open all year round, campsites are sometimes empty during the low season and consequently the sanitary facilities are not used. The potable water then stagnates in the pipes and microorganisms that are hazardous to health can multiply. To counteract this, nine additional toilet modules with integrated hygiene flushing were installed in addition to the universal cisterns. For each duct, one hygiene flush unit is sufficient as the last consumer, thereby safeguarding the hot and cold water network of the entire resort.
The special feature of the TECE hygiene flush is that it is integrated into the cistern. This avoids additional pipe routes and unsightly inspection openings. The flush intervals can be programmed via Bluetooth using an app. In order to provide the operator with proof of the correct and regular use of the potable water system in the event of an emergency, the software also has an automatic log function which stores all flushing processes.
All the toilets have been equipped with the TECEnow flush plate. Its simple design and particularly flat construction blend elegantly and unobtrusively into the 5-star ambience. Rubber buffers under the buttons reliably prevent rattling noises during activation and ensure a rich feel – a tangible quality that guests appreciate. In the men's toilets, the TECEfilo urinal electronics ensure hygienic, touch-free flushing, an important aspect in terms of infection protection. TECEfilo also has a programmable hygiene flushing function that replaces the water in the connection pipe after a long period of rest and non-use.
Unhindered shower enjoyment
The shower areas of the hotel rooms can be accessed without hindrance. Here, TECEdrainline-Evo shower channels have been installed for drainage. Especially in the high-quality bathrooms of the suites and chalets, the continuous floor conveys a more spacious feeling than a shower tray. Barriers and trip hazards disappear and the showers can be used safely by young and old alike. An additional advantage of the shower channel is the direct and fast water drainage without water accumulating on flat areas.
To protect the tile covering, TECEdrainine-Evo has a capillary protection edge that prevents dirt and soap residue from penetrating under the tiles at the shower channel, which in turn extends the renovation cycles. Service personnel also appreciate the shower channel, because the stainless steel body doesn’t have joints and the internal gradient ensures optimum water drainage and an improved self-cleaning effect. No hair or dirt can get stuck.
Efficient bathroom design
The sanitary areas have been constructed with the easy-to-install TECEprofil pre-wall system, which ensured a fast and smooth construction. TECEprofil was chosen by the client and operator because of its stability and flexibility, thanks to which free-standing walls could also be implemented. All the TECE modules used for toilets, washstands and showers are securely held in place in the system, which consists of just three basic components – section tube, angle bracket and corner joint. In order to optimise the available space in the hotel suites and to give guests a more spacious feeling, the TECEprofil pre-wall system was used to build partition walls for the open bathroom areas. The washstand modules are built into the narrow partition walls and require only a small installation depth – this made it possible to realise valuable living space and a transparent room aesthetic in a simple way.
