TECE is a new IBU member

We recently became a new member of the renowned Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V. (IBU). In doing so, the sanitary expert is sending out a strong signal and strengthening its commitment to sustainability in the construction industry. At the same time, we are driving forward the transparent communication of sustainable building practices in a targeted manner.

By creating EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations) and providing transparent customer information in the IBU's declaration programme, we will disclose relevant environmental information on our products in future.
EPDs describe building materials, building products or building components in terms of their environmental impact on the basis of detailed life cycle assessments. These comprehensive and independently audited life cycle assessments cover the entire life cycle of a product - from raw material extraction, transport and processing through to assembly. The aim is to present the environmental impact of a product in 36 different impact categories, including the CO₂ footprint, in a completely transparent manner.

EPDs help experts to make informed decisions as part of integrated planning, e.g. when selecting construction products and sustainable building certifications.
‘We are proud to be a member of the IBU and are actively committed to presenting the environmental impact of our products clearly and transparently,’ says Markus Kotmann, Manager for Environment, Health and Safety and Regulatory Affairs at TECE. ‘It is important to us to take responsibility in order to create long-term sustainable solutions, because we are convinced that transparency is the key to greater sustainability in the construction industry,’ says Johannes Strehlow, Sustainability Manager at TECE.
