Exceptional and climate-neutral living above the rooftops of Freiburg.
In a city where tall buildings are a rarity, this residential tower is an eye-catcher with a special touch: the new Black F Tower, whose 16 floors stretch 52 metres into the Freiburg sky at the freight station, houses 54 high-quality serviced flats, among other things. Behind the new brand name Black F Tower, which is a modern interpretation of the traditional Black Forest house, lies a new type of accommodation concept.
From the outside, the new building attracts attention with its unusual vertical green façade. Inside, the high-quality fittings of the flats are impressive and continue into the innermost interior spaces. There, the flush plates from the TECEnow range in extravagant black and the TECEdrainprofile shower profiles round off the exclusive fittings. Behind the wall is TECEprofil technology, which offers great freedom in the design of the bathrooms.
New accommodation concept with a sustainable character
With a living space of 2,300 square metres and twelve of the 16 floors, the flats combine the independence of a private flat with the character of a hotel. Managing Director Annabell Unmüssig has thus created a popular offer, especially among business travellers and tourists who are looking for local accommodation for a limited period of time. She explains: "With our comprehensive concept, temporary accommodation becomes a conscious and valuable experience. Guests can come in and start living."
50,000 evergreen plants form the façade
The aim of those responsible was to design and operate the Black F Tower consciously and sustainably. For this reason, 4300 square metres - around two thirds of the entire façade area of the extraordinary residential tower - were provided with wall-mounted greenery. 50,000 evergreen plants such as lavender, rosemary, forest ferns and sage ensure that the façade is one of the largest vertical vegetation areas in Germany and, with a CO2 binding capacity of up to 25 tonnes per year, makes a clearly visible contribution to the concept of sustainability. The plants are planted in around 1,500 coated aluminium cassettes, which hang in support rails and form a seamless greening system when all the modular elements are combined. Irrigation and fertilisation are fully automatic. The extensive green roof and four beehives on the terrace of the 16th floor also contribute to the sustainable concept. A real tree in the foyer also brings nature inside. Thanks to a wide range of efforts, the Black F Tower is now one hundred per cent climate-neutral, certified by Climate-Partner and invites guests to enjoy climate-neutral living. The advantages of a green façade are obvious: for example, it protects the building fabric from wind and high temperature fluctuations, keeps out noise, filters fine dust and improves the microclimate.
TECE products fit into a special concept
The sustainable concept also includes the decision by those responsible to ensure the shortest possible distances within Germany when selecting products - which TECE, with its company headquarters in Emsdetten, North Rhine-Westphalia, fulfils. TECEprofil is behind the wall. The dry construction system consisting of a supporting structure and matching sanitary modules was specially developed for pre-wall installation. It allows great design freedom when planning and designing bathrooms and customised installation in the smallest of spaces. The particularly efficient use of water - six or optionally 4.5 litres of flush volume - also contributes significantly to the sustainability concept of the new building.
The high quality and exceptional appearance of the TECEnow flush plates and TECEdrainprofile shower profiles in exclusive black continue the exclusive character of the fittings right down to the details of the bathrooms. Visually, both elements create a striking contrast in the brightly coloured bathrooms. Thanks to its flat design, the TECEnow blends in just as harmoniously with the design as the TECEdrainprofile shower profile. The inner slope of the TECEdrainprofile channel profile also optimises the water drainage and therefore also the self-cleaning effect.
