Stylish living and relaxation in the ACHTERDECK residential neighbourhood in Berlin Köpenick

Sparkling water, green forests and cosy cafes – take a deep breath and relax away from the hustle and bustle of the capital. A brand-new residential area has been shining in Berlin's Köpenick district since mid-2024. Located directly on the waterfront and less than half an hour from Berlin Mitte by S-Bahn, 187 residential units offer plenty of space for many cosy hours On a site of 13,860 square metres, the Kondor Wessels group of companies has created an oasis of well-being in a green setting, designed by PA GmbH Pätzold Architekten, which is based directly adjacent to the Tiergarten park. The new neighbourhood's eight buildings combine a design that is close to nature with exquisite furnishings. The picturesque surroundings can be enjoyed from the modern buildings in winter through the floor-to-ceiling windows and in summer from the spacious balconies and terraces. In addition to the textured wooden exterior façades and the high-quality oak parquet flooring with underfloor heating, quality, aesthetics and functionality were also considered in every detail when it came to the bathroom equipment.

Enjoy your free time in the footsteps of a ‘captain’

The historic district of Köpenick (formerly Cöpenick) was briefly made famous and infamous worldwide by an incident that went down in the history books over a hundred years ago: in 1906, the shoemaker Friedrich Wilhelm Voigt, who came from East Prussia, came to the city disguised as a captain with a troop of gullible soldiers. After arresting the mayor, the legendary con man robbed the city treasury, enjoyed a beer in the station restaurant and disappeared in the next train to Berlin. Nowadays, the former independent city from the Middle Ages is much more relaxed. Berlin's largest district is characterised not only by its centuries-old city centre but also by its wonderful natural setting. It's a great place to live, far from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Almost 70 per cent of the almost 35-square-kilometre Köpenick area is made up of forests and waterways. It's easy to forget your everyday worries here – whether you're paddle boarding on the Müggelsee, taking a relaxing walk through the Köpenick Forest or sitting on a wicker beach chair on the banks of the Spree.

A top-class residential area

When designing the bathrooms in ACHTERDECK, the people in charge opted for high-quality sanitary technology and flush plates from the sanitary expert TECE. A total of 254 TECEprofil toilet modules with Uni cisterns were used in the eight buildings. The compact pre-wall elements with built-in cistern enable particularly easy and time-saving installation by a single person. The sealed tank is pre-assembled ready for connection and thus prevents the ingress of construction site dirt. The water connection is made using a quick adapter without the need for time-consuming and laborious sealing. Thanks to the clever installation tunnel including protection against dust, the connection of any TECE toilet flush plates is done in no time. The excess of the installation tunnel is simply removed without tools with a ‘zip’ after tiling. These and other installation features enable considerable time and personnel savings, especially in large-scale projects. TECE products also impress in front of the wall: the elegant flush plates from the TECEsquare, TECEnow and TECEloop series fit perfectly into the selected furnishings of the new residential complex in Köpenick. The linear design of the TECE toilet flush plates impresses with its understated elegance and adds the finishing touch to the high-quality bathrooms.
